4/4 German Trade Magine Copy Violin

This German Trade instrument was made circa 1880 and is a copy of a Magine violin.

The back is flamed and has an unusual purfling inlay. The front is made of good quality straight grained spruce and the instrument is varnished a warm dark brown colour.  This is a good violin for a young player who needs a solid instrument.

The violin has an open, even and clear tone.  It is labeled Caspar da Salo en Brescia, but has probably been no closer to Italy than Germany, where  it was made about 100 years ago.
