Violin bow stamped HILL

Rich dark chocolate colour stick, round high-grade featuring a silver ferrule, silver adjuster and silver tip. The ebony frog is plain with a mother of pearl slide. Two tone whale bone lapping. Also stamped under frog: L38

Violin bow stamped RODERICH PAESOLD * * *

Fine octagonal pernambuco stick featuring a fully gold mounted ebony frog with Parisian rings with the pearl eye and a pearl slide and ‘R’ stamp. The adjuster is in three parts, gold, ebony, gold, the stick also features gold lapping. Also stamped W. Germany on the underside of stick behind the frog.

NICHOLAS REMY MAIRE, PARIS, ca. 1835.

Octagonal stick of fine ironwood of a chocolate brown colour, the head lining of ivory. Fine, original ebony frog, maillechort mounted with pearl eyes and the distinctive metal heel cap. Maillechort and ebony button, iron screw and brass eyelet all original. Bi-colour silk lapping. The bow is unbranded and sold with the certificate of Michael Taylor. Weight 59.5 gms; length 740mm. The bow was restored in 2002 by Ian Watchorn and Lennox Holt. In excellent condition in every respect with minimal wear to both stick and frog. A fine, rare and distictive bow with excellent playing qualitites.
