Wolf's that sound?
A wolf note is a common occurance on cellos and double basses and can often also be found on violins and violas. The wolf 'howl' is produced when the note played matches the natural resonating frequency of the body of a musical instrument and the two frequencies interfere with eachother.
Occasionally a trial and error change in set up my eliminate a wolfnote or lessen the prominence of one, but a quick and inexpensive fix is to attach a counterweight to one of the strings. These come in a variety of shapes and forms as wolfnote eliminators or supressors.
Our newest wolfnote product are elminators from US based company NEW HARMONY. They provide suppressors in a variety of weights to allow you to choose the lightest weight needed to effect the wolf note. Their unique design allows the eliminators to be simplistic, without the need for rubber sleeve.
Installation of a Wolf tone eliminator or suppressor is easy, but we are happy to help out in the showroom during your appointment!
