Louis Guersan Violin

Violins » Violins Pre loved and new II »

4/4 Louis Guersan Violin

This instrument is attributed to French luthier Louis Guersan - a descendant of a family of luthiers whose ancestry in the trade went back a
hundred years.

(Universal Dictionary of Violin & Bow Makers by William Henley)

It has received extensive re-modelling work by the acclaimed repairer Georges Chanot who worked in Paris from 1833.
This exceptional instrument is suited to the intermediate to advanced player, and features an extremely sweet & warm tone.
The high arched, high quality spruce top exhibits beautiful F-Holes and purfling, which is mirrored on the lightly figured maple back.
The quality of workmanship on this instrument is a special feature. There is also evidence that the instrument was enlarged at a later time, to fill out the upper bouts & extend the upper bout radius.
"A joy to play."
